The conditionals are said to be extremely difficult for ESL.
However, if you use Visualization, you can understand them more efficiently and effectively.
In addition to from the Zero to 5th Conditionals, there are 8 types, which include "I wish, If only, etc." and the usual constructions describing expected values, such as "I hope that, etc."

Zero Conditional has 6 meanings in Real World
(1) Zero Conditional : Real World, Use Simple Present Tense, without Modal Verb, 6 types
Zero Conditional is a concept that was described in Simple Present Tense, but there is a strong semantic relationship.
Schedule, Fact, Emotion, and Habit are those that I previously stated in Simple Present Tense. In addition, Instruction and Cause & Effect are added to them.
Zero Conditional has the following characteristics (necessary conditions).
・If-clauses and Result-clauses are described in the Simple Present Tense.
・It represents Past, Present and Future in Real World.
・In Real World, the high probability events are wtitten in 6 types listed above.
・Cannot use Modal Verb (will, can, etc.).
・"When" can be used instead of "if".
1st Conditional has 4 meanings in Real World
(2) 1st Conditional : Real World, Use Simple Present Tense, with Modal Verb, 4 types
Similarly, 1st Conditional has strong relations to Simple Future Tense.
They have 4 types, Plan, Promise, Prediction, and Intention.
1st Conditional has the following characteristics (necessary conditions).
・If-clauses are described in the Simple Present Tense, and Result-clauses are in the Simple Future or Present Tense.
・It represents Present and Future in Real World.
・In Real World, the moderate probability events are wtitten in 4 types listed above.
・Use Modal Verb (will, can, etc.) in the Result-clause.
・"When" can be used instead of "if".
2nd Conditional describes Un-Able Wish in Un-Real World
(3) 2nd Conditional : Un-Real World, Use Simple Past Tense, with Modal Verb, 1 type
2nd Conditional has the following characteristics (necessary conditions).
・If-clauses and Result-clauses are described in the Simple Past Tense.
・Although Un-Real World is represented using Simple Past Tense, actually they are events in Present or Future.
・Use Modal Verb (will, can, etc.) in the Result-clause.
3rd Conditional describes Regret or Relief emotions in Un-Real World
(4) 3rd Conditional : Un-Real World, Use Perfect Past Tense, with Modal Verb, 2 types
3rd Conditional has the following characteristics (necessary conditions).
・If-clauses and Result-clauses are described in the Past Perfect Tense.
・It represents older and newer past events using Past Perfect Tense in Un-Real World.
・It represents 2 types of Past Regret and Relief in Un-Real World.
・Use Modal Verb (will, can, etc.) in the Result-clause.
4th Mixed Conditional is Wish to change the Present or Future in Un-Real World
(5) 4th Mixed Conditional : Un-Real World, Use Simple & Perfect Past Tense, with Modal Verb, 1 type
4th Conditional has the following characteristics (necessary conditions).
・If-clauses are described in the Past Perfect Tense, and Result-clauses are in the Simple Past Tense.
・As bases of Past situation in Un-Real World, it represents an Un-able Wish to change the Present or Future.
・Use Modal Verb (will, can, etc.) in the Result-clause.
5th Mixed Conditional is Wish to change the Past in Un-Real World
(6) 5th Mixed Conditional : Un-Real World, Use Simple & Perfect Past Tense, with Modal Verb, 1 type
5th Conditional has the following characteristics (necessary conditions).
・If-clauses are described in the Simple Past Tense, and Result-clauses are in the Past Perfect Tense.
・As bases of Present situation in Un-Real World, it represents an Un-able Wish to change the Past.
・Use Modal Verb (will, can, etc.) in the Result-clause.
I wish, if only,I'd rather, etc. are Un-Real World Regret
(7) I wish, if only, etc. : Un-Real World, Use Simple & Perfect Past Tense, 4types
Since it's in Un-Real World, we cannot use other than the simple or perfect past tense after I wish, etc.
I wish + past simple has same meaning as 2nd Conditional. So, it indicates Un-Real World Regret(Un-able Wish).
I wish + past perfect has mostly the same meaning as 3rd Conditional. So, it indicates Un-Real World Regret of Un-Changeable Past.
But the only difference from the 3rd Conditional is that it cannot express a sense of Relief.
I hope, Probably, I'm sure, etc. are Real World Normal Expectation
(8) I hope, Probably, I'm sure, etc. : Real World, Use Any Tense, Many types
Hope is controversial but my standing place is here;
when Zero, 1st Conditional, and Recommendations are included in Subjunctives, then Hope should be included.
Since it's in Real World, you can use any tense (even in the future tense) after I hope, etc.
I've finished necessary and sufficient explanations.
